QIUP is a private and comprehensive research-led University established in 2008 in collaboration with the State Government of Perak with the goal of becoming an international educational hub. A state-of-the-art Medical Faculty has been established in Ipoh to cater for the medical programme which has enrolled its inaugural batch of students in July 2012.The MBBS programme at QIUP follows an Integrated Hybrid Problem-Based Learning Curriculum. The 5-year MBBS curriculum consists of two contiguous phases: Pre-clinical (Years 1 and 2) and Clinical (Years 3 to 5). In Phase I, the emphasis is on basic sciences with early clinical exposure; Phase II focuses on the clinical sciences integrated with the applied aspects of basic and laboratory sciences.

The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Honours) at QIUP is a comprehensive programme which aims at training the students in various disciplines of medical sciences. The four years training provides students the opportunity to acquire sound fundamental skills that are integral to research in medical-related fields.
The course also provides an in-depth understanding of laboratory safety issues, principles of experimental design, theory and practical application of modern research techniques preparing them for new and innovative ways to diagnose medical illnesses.
The students are also equipped with knowledge of bioinformatics, bioethics, legal aspects of biomedical practice and entrepreneurial skills in order to prepare them for the future challenges.
QIUP Biomedical programme provides the students with a systematic understanding of the fundamentals of human biology, including a coherent and detailed knowledge of biochemistry, pharmacology, and the pathophysiology of disease.

The curriculum helps the students to attain a level of conceptual understanding in their research projects and other laboratory work which enables them to formulate and develop hypotheses and solve problems using relevant, cutting-edge techniques. Through group work of information gathering, literature reviewing, reports writing, poster and oral presentations, the students will acquire the ability to an in-depth learning of scientific writing and communication skills.
Our graduates will be equipped to pursue careers in the diverse fields related to health, scientific research, and more broadly in the industries and the public sectors.
